Hawthorne House is situated on 11 beautiful acres in historic Parkville, Missouri. Parkville is a river town known primarily for its history and quaint shops, and is conveniently located only 15 minutes from downtown Kansas City and the Kansas City International Airport. Plenty of close hotels make Parkville an excellent location for both in-town and out-of-town guests.
Hawthorne House offers both indoor and outdoor ceremony locations and one reception room:
Outdoor Wedding Venue & Gazebo
Hawthorne House is well known for both our beautiful outdoor weddings and our indoor chapel weddings. The grounds are professionally maintained with your wedding needs in mind, and the photographic opportunities are endless. As you drive up to the Manor House you have the feeling of leaving the city and entering a country estate.
The gazebo was selected for its beauty and suitability for wedding ceremonies. Imagine walking off the porch of the Manor House and up the aisle between rows of white wooden chairs to join in marriage with the person you love. The gazebo is the perfect setting for early evening ceremonies.
Hawthorne House Chapel
Our beautiful non-denominational chapel is nestled in the woods close to the entry of the estate. The chapel, which was built in 2003, was architecturally designed and constructed to fit with the turn of the century look of the estate. The chapel seats 250 guests in custom-made pews. Both the east and west walls of the chapel boast six-foot high gothic windows. A turn of the century, round, stained glass window, salvaged and restored from a European church, adorns the south alter wall. Another salvaged and restored gothic style stained glass window greets your guests in the entry of the chapel. It is the perfect place to hold a wedding ceremony.
Hawthorne House chapel is climate controlled for year around use.
The Emerson Room
The Emerson Room is our stunning wedding reception room that was added to the east side of the original Manor House in 2003. As you enter the Emerson Room, you can’t help but notice that the room was designed to meet all of your wedding reception needs. An elliptical staged area is surrounded by glass windows to showcase the head table. Shimmering Italian crystal chandeliers enhance the lighting of this area. There is a two-sided bar for your guests’ convenience and a dance floor for dancing the evening away. A loft area overlooks the room and provides for additional seating. Your guests will enjoy going outdoors and sitting on the southern style porch, watching the sunset and admiring the natural beauty of a country estate. The Emerson Room will accommodate up to 300 guests for a buffet or plated dinner reception.
The Manor House
The estate’s original Manor House is 112 years old. In 1997, the Manor House was completely renovated with your wedding and reception needs in mind, including dressing facilities for the bride and groom. The office is also located in the Manor House.
